Who the heck is this Grouchy Hippo character? Simply put, me. My secret identity is John Bowers. I used to write for a website called King Hippo. That's where the Hippo part came from. The Grouchy part is the gift of one of my grandchildren. I was driving with several of them in the backseat of my car and they were fussing at each other so I said, "Don't make Grampa mad, you know what happens when Grampa gets mad." Meaning, of course, that they got in trouble and maybe even got yelled at. Well, dear Ashley, who was about five at the time, says in response: "Yeah, you get grouchy."

Several years back I got sick. The things that went wrong sort of preclude me from working and yet I am still not mentally ready to retire. I used to teach computers at auto plants for a college, and I loved it. So what could I do to keep active while retired? Like most teachers, and many others as well, I have always wanted to write. So that's what I'm doing. The novels I write are meant to be good clean action adventure fun. A good outlet for me to write and hopefully for you to read. Plus I can use the money. So buy, buy, buy. Except for the free stuff of course. But even there I would be glad to accept a donation. If you like to read don't forget to check out the Used Book sections.
